À propos de Manaka Hamono - Kisuke Manaka est un forgeron de la 5ème génération, relativement jeune, originaire de Kasukabe, dans la préfecture de Saitama. En 2025, il a déménagé à Sanjo Tsubame, un haut lieu de la forge au Japon. Il a commencé à fabriquer des couteaux à partir de zéro il y a environ 10 ans, avec seulement un atelier rempli d'équipement et sans mentor. Il est entièrement autodidacte, mais il a maîtrisé les techniques de forgeage-soudage des aciers en interne, même le forgeage-soudage de l'acier inoxydable, ce qui n'est pas une tâche facile.
Aujourd'hui, il forge-soude tout en interne, de l'acier au carbone dur revêtu d'acier doux, de l'acier inoxydable revêtu d'acier inoxydable, et de l'acier au carbone revêtu d'acier inoxydable. L'acier Shirogami #2 utilisé dans ces couteaux est forgé-soudé en interne par Manaka-san. C'est un acier très traditionnel qui peut atteindre un tranchant incroyable et a une excellente tenue de coupe, un favori des forgerons plus traditionnels.
