TLDR ⓘ - Too long; didn't read - A quick summary that cuts to the chase.

  • Gyuto

Inspired by the profile of a traditional European chef knife, Gyutos are a multi-purpose knife with a slight meat-cutting bias. “Gyuto” translates to “cow sword.” If you want one knife to do it all, This is it.

  • Yoshimi Kato - Blacksmith

Yoshimi Kato is the son-in-law of Hiroshi Kato, the man who originally made some of our most popular Masakage lines and was a founding member of Takefu Knife VIllage. The torch has been passed and Yoshimi-san has stepped up to fill some big shoes and take over those lines.

  • Masakage - Knife Brand

Masakage Knives was founded in 2007 by Takayuki Shibata, one of Japan’s best knife sharpeners. It was his goal to help the Master Blacksmiths of Takefu Knife Village showcase their talent and their mind-blowingly sharp knives. There is a Masakage knife for every type of cook, the “professional”, the “foodie” or even the “frantically trying to cook your first turkey before the In-Laws get there”.

Fantastic Knife

"I purchased Masakage Yuki Gyuto 270mm as an upgrade to my 10" Tojiro DP Wa Gyuto and it's my first carbon knife. I love the sharpness out of the box and handling of the knife. Fit and finish of the blade is fantastic, but I had to sand and treat handle with the boiled linseed oil and beeswax to protect it going forward. Now it feels and looks great, I wish this is how it came OOTB. Great knife and fantastic value. Shipping was lightning-fast. Thanks Knifewear!"

Masakage Yuki Gyuto 270mm

"What a beautiful knife. For such a long knife, it is beautifully balanced and easy to wield and feels very comfortable in my hand. The associate at the store I purchased the knife from was very knowledgeable and provided excellent instruction on how to care for a carbon steel knife such as this one. This knife was worth every penny I spent on it. I am so grateful we have a resource like Knifewear in Vancouver."

Masakage yuki gyuto

"This blade is truly a fine piece of workmanship feels good in the hand and cuts like a razor. I have a similar knife made by global that I use at work quite a bit so I am used to the straighter edge of the gyuto compared the more curved profile of a traditional french chefs knife. I haven't really put it through the paces yet so I can't speak to edge retention but I don't think that will be problem. This blade was expertly crafted with function in mind. Great free shipping service I got it within the week and the price was good, what you would expect to pay for a high quality knife without feeling gouged."

Amazing

"I went into the store looking for a Gyuto and had amazing service while looking over oh so many knives. The staff's patience with me as they would put a knife back after I eliminated it, and then wanted to look at it again. I know what I got with this knife as I have 2 other knives of the same line. Tough and easy to handle. Holds an edge for me for a fairly long time. I love pulling it off the rack to use it. Couldn't be happier with every knifewear purchase I have made (too many to count now)"
