  • Where to Eat in Calgary as Voted by Knifewear Staff

    March 14, 2024 1 min read

When you walk into a Knifewear store, any Knifewear store, or visit us online (like you, charming reader), one thing becomes immediately apparent: we don’t just love knives, we LOVE food.  And who better to ask for food recommendations than a bunch of ex-chefs?

If you come visit us here in our Calgary home, these are a few of the recommendations put together by our Inglewood Store’s team!

    Inglewood Drive-In (Recommended by: All)

If you come and visit us in Inglewood and you have a hankering for a beautifully greasy burger and fries, look no further than the Drive-In. A classic burger joint located maybe 30 seconds walk from our front door, serving a range of classic, mouthwatering burgers and an ever-changing list of milkshakes.

    Ryuko (Recommended by: Matt)

Tucked away in the south of Calgary is an excellent restaurant from Chef Jun Young Park.  Offering a beautiful array of Japanese dishes from Wagyu Tartare to chef-curated Bento boxes to a beautiful sushi and sashimi offering, this place is worth the trip! Don’t forget to try their cocktails!

     Must Try:

    Nasu Yaki, Tonkatsu

    Shokunin (Recommended by: Connor)

Chicken ass, bumping hip-hop, a couple too many cocktails. This is a night at Shokunin. Firmly established as a Calgary staple, Shokunin raised the bar for Calgary’s food scene with its salty and sweet Canadian Izakaya food. The skewers are grilled on binchotan, the appetizers are perfectly balanced, and the atmosphere is electric. If you haven’t eaten at Chef Darren MacLean’s flagship, you need to.

Class Clown Hamburgers (Recommended by: Samii)

This awesome smash burger spot dots the i’s and tosses the t’s. Tucked away in Mission in a small space, this place makes my mouth water any time I think about those juice patties. Great vibes and an awesome selection of beers and other drinks. They really keep things retro and fun.

Alvin's Jazz Club (Recommended by: Kyle)

Living down in the southern reaches of Calgary has its perks, but one thing that has always eluded me is finding that perfect spot where you can savour the exquisite blend of soulful music and delectable cuisine. That was until I stumbled upon Alvin's Jazz Club. From the moment you step inside, you're transported back to the glamour and allure of 1920s New York City jazz clubs. The ambiance oozes with vintage charm, making it the ideal escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.  What truly sets Alvin's apart is its unbeatable Wednesday special – a three-course meal for two priced at just $99. Great for a special night out with food and music!
