We Sponsor Beehives with ABC Bees!
Apiaries & Bees for Communities is a pioneer Canada-wide for beekeeping education and innovation. They are Alberta’s only educator of beginner, intermediate, and advanced beekeeping skills as well as managing the provinces largest commercial Treatment-Free Apiary. ABC Bees leads the way in diversified, sustainable, and resilient apiary practices in Canada.
ABC Bees is run by Eliese Watson, friend of Knifewear and Kent of Inglewood, who does incredible work to sustain the local bee population and promote urban beekeeping inside Calgary and across the world. Eliese not only loves bees, but recognizes their vital importance to keep the food systems of the world working. Eliese promotes sustainable practices and runs several mentorship programs to teach the public and runs frequent tours during the summer to show her sponsors and their guests just what her bees do. The primary goal of ABC Bees is education, and we have one of only two partnerships with them to sponsor beehives within the city.
Since 2016 Knifewear and Kent of Inglewood have been proud sponsors of ABC Bees. By contributing to their cause we help to support Eliese Watson in her work in Calgary, and sustain two hives at Heritage Park. As ex-chefs and lovers of food, we believe that the work Eliese does is vital to the maintenance of our food system. We work closely with Eliese to educate our staff and friends of the company on just how wonderful and important these beehives are.
Three vintages of ABC Bees Honey
For the past few years we’ve been hoarding the harvests (It doesn’t go bad, after all). We now have ABC Bees honey in 2017, 2018 and 2019 vintages available for sale in all Knifewear and Kent of Inglewood locations! You can treat yourself to a jar for $10, or try all three for $25 and do a vertical tasting of the different vintages.
We hope that you enjoy this honey as much as we do, and we thank you for sharing it with us.
