Shizu Hamono YURI Nakiri 175mm
Shizu Hamono YURI Nakiri 175mm
About the Shape - A Nakiri is a vegetable knife. Underutilized in the Western kitchen, the Nakiri’s flat blade is meant for the push/pull chopping of vegetables. Since the entire flat edge of the knife kisses the cutting board at once, you won't be turning the vegetable into an accordion. Accordion vegetables are still connected like a paper doll after you're “done” cutting them. To truly understand the awesomeness of a Nakiri we recommend making onion soup your first night with the knife. The ease of chopping will blow you away.
About Shizu Yuri - Shizu Hamono is a relatively “new” knife maker, established in 1959 in Seki by Masami Horibe, he grew in Seki city, the city of blacksmiths, and naturally became a craftsman. Their Yuri line sports a clean, minimalist aesthetic that we love. They fit right in to a modern kitchen, and the line is perfect for cooks of any skill-level that want a reliable knife that doesn't have to be babied. The AUS8 steel takes a great edge but doesn't chip easily, and the pakkawood handle is elegant and rugged. They even come in a gorgeous Paulownia wood box, making them perfect for gifts!
