Every Child Matters - Donating Sharpening Proceeds September 25 to October 1
In recognition of the National Day for Truth & Reconciliation and Orange Shirt Day, 100% of proceeds from sharpening services from September 25 to October 1 will be given to charities local to our stores that focus on indigenous communities in the area. The Knifewear Foundation will also match these donations

Miskanawah Community Services Association - Calgary
Guided by Indigenous teachings, Miskanawah offers evidence-informed, supportive services to people in the Calgary area as they strengthen their circles of self, family, community, and culture.
Bent Arrow Traditional Healing Society - Edmonton
Bent Arrow Traditional Healing Society is committed to building upon the strengths of Aboriginal Children, youth, and families to enable them to grow spiritually, emotionally, physically, and mentally so that they can walk proudly in both Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal communities.
Downtown Eastside Women's Centre - Vancouver
DEWC provides a safe, non-judgmental environment for women (cis, trans, 2S), from all walks of life who live and/or work in the Downtown Eastside. To achieve this goal, DEWC provides supportive surroundings with meals, counselling, advocacy, and programs that nurture and empower members.
Minwaashin Lodge Indigenous Women's Support Centre - Ottawa
Minwaashin Lodge provides a range of programs and services to First Nations, Inuit, and Métis women and children (regardless of status) who are survivors of domestic and other forms of violence and who may also be suffering the effects of the residential school system.
Native Canadian Centre of Toronto
NCCT works to empower the Indigenous community in Toronto by providing programs that support their spiritual, emotional, physical, and mental well-being.
For folks looking to further your own learning, here are some good resources I have learned from:
-I learned a lot from The University of Alberta's free indigenous studies course. It's very digestible, and learning can be done in small parts.
-The Government of Canada website also has good info on the 94 calls to action from the Truth & Reconciliation Commission here.
-I also highly recommend reading the book 21 Things You May Not Know About the Indian Act.
