The “petty” or “paring” knife is a good 2nd or 3rd blade. A lot of people don’t treat themselves to something small and instead splurge on big knives, so pettys make great gifts. A petty knife is excellent for small jobs such as trimming, cutting fruit, and anything done in the hand.
