"Recently evacuated from the Bald Range fire in Summerland BC I was caught without any fishing gear for the boys annual fishing trip. Purchased a Nogent Spatula, Nogent Classic Chef Knife and Japanese Fish Scaler. Flipped a lot of veggies, spot prawns and salmon with this strong spatula. The fish scaler does a great job cleaning Chinook Salmon. Filleting 15lb Chinook the Japanese way was no problem for the Knife. I filed a notch in a knife guard to keep the blade from slipping out. Returning home to an untouched home is a blessing and a testament to the difficult and brave work of all the firefighters. The Nogent Spatula, Knife and Japanese Fish scaler will be a part of my fishing kit in the future."

Do not recommend

"I bought this knife for my partner, who wanted a "less scary" knife to use in the kitchen at home. Unfortunately this knife is not fit for purpose and is one of the worst ~$50 I've ever spent. Brand new out of the packaging, the blade does not feel sharp. After sharpening, it takes a decent edge, but retention is very poor. Worst of all, the blade geometry is odd, making most cutting tasks counter-intuitive and clumsy. At least the blade is stainless steel and easy to maintain in that way. I do not recommend purchasing this knife for anyone, for any purpose. I would instead recommend getting a Kiwi brand knife for a similar price point / use case"

"Nogent knives are known for their thin, sharp blades. I already owned a small paring knife and it holds its edge for a long while. This 170mm model slices through onions and other vegetables very nimbly."
