Yamada Kogyosho, Y.K. was founded in Yokohama, Kanagawa, Japan in 1957. They are a family-owned small craft factory run over three generations. They are the only folks making hammered woks in Japan. Their flat-bottom wok is perfect for most folks at home, as they'll work nicely with your glass, electric, or induction stovetop.
Most people find they like a 27cm or 30cm wok for general wok cooking at home.

Special Instructions for Yamada pans and Woks - Yamada pans and woks come unseasoned and are covered with an anti-rust protective coating. Before first use, make sure to heat the wok to burn off the coating and wash it with detergent when it gets cool. We recommend doing this outside or in a well-ventilated area.
After the seasoning is removed, scrub them well and season them as per a standard carbon steel pan. Instructions are in the attached care letter that comes with the pan or in the "pan care" tab above the description.

"I would love to review this pan but I still have not been able to completely remove the factory coating. I know it is a durable piece of cookware because it has withstood several sessions in a 600 degree barbecue, a 12 hour coating of easy off oven cleaner and lots of hard scrubbing with a wire mesh scrubber. Any further suggestions for getting that coating off would be welcome. I look forward to cooking with it. It is a good size for 2 or 3 people."

"This wok looks great, is well made, lightweight, and worth every penny. I bought the 30cm and it is the perfect size for my small stove and kitchen. It did take me a lot of work to remove the coating. I put it on my BBQ at 650 but it wouldn't burn off. So I removed the grates and put it right on the flame. When that didn't work I called the store. They suggested using my oven but I didn't want to smoke up my house. I ended up buying a propane torch and it took over an hour to remove. This could be an exception but be warned!"
"It is of good thickness and heats up quickly, the handle is welded on nicely. This is a good size for easy flipping, at first I thought it was small. The lacquer coating took some effort to remove, I would recommend doing it on the BBQ. The seasoning part was not so bad, I like using it."

One thing is it’s very much a pain to get the factory coating off, your place will smell bad for the day and smoke alarm will likely go off. But once you finish seasoning it, it’ll be an incredible piece of cookware that should last a lifetime and more"
