    Quality product, made in Japan

    "I use this this wood handle off set spatula all the time, even just to butter my toast, it makes me happy. I find that you get what you pay for. Time will tell! My only small complaint is that the wood handle is a bit rough, but I oiled it and it is better. This is hand wash, as I do not put wood handles in the dishwasher, not if I want them to last. I have been looking for a off set spatula for a long while, one not made in China; this one is from Japan, and while expensive, it is for my own peace of mind. It is a matter of trust in the manufacturing of a well made non toxic product that you use for food. Buy quality, it lasts your lifetime."

    Flipped off

    "Title: This Spatula Changed Me as a Person I bought this spatula expecting to flip eggs. What I did not expect was emotional support, leadership, and unwavering loyalty. This spatula doesn’t just flip food — it commits. Pancakes? Landed like NASA planned it. Burgers? Flipped with the confidence of a cook who’s weeded- but refuses to panic. Scrambled eggs? Gently folded like they were fragile secrets. The handle fits my hand like it was forged in a kitchen prophecy. It has never melted, warped, or judged me for eating grilled cheese at 2am. I once dropped it on the floor and I swear it looked disappointed — not angry — disappointed. I now own multiple spatulas, but this one is the chosen one. The others know it. I know it. The pan knows it. Would I recommend this spatula? No. I would trust it with my life."

    The right size

    "nice finish and just the right size for cooking, flipping items in a pan and fitting in apron. It is a nice addition to my kit. The brand makes some really high quality stuff, would definitely recommend if you are looking for an offset spatula that is MORE than an offset spatula."

    Light and unfinished, overrated and overpriced

    "For the standard we all have for artisan, Japanese crafted goods this doesn't come close to hitting the mark for the $$$. Right off the bat once you've opened it up, it's light, too light. It's supposedly oak, a typically heavy wood. It just feels uncomfortable light in the hand. This also doesn't help with justify the price point. Next off when you start to look at it more, there a lot of finishing problems. The spatula blade is off centre, the woods not sanded/ finished so the mid cut on the wood for the blade tang to sit is jaggered. The studs look like unfinished welds. The spatula blade is SHARP from being punched out with no finishing(I've already managed to snag myself on it). For this price point I expect it to be at level of craftsmanship they have put in the packaging, maybe thats where all the money goes to, God knows its not been put into the product itself."

    Does not live up to the magic of the spoon

    "Good balance of stiffness/flex for a spatula. Checks that box if you want an offset spatula with an attractive wood wa-handle. If you have a sense of wabi sabi, and that's the only box to check, full marks, full stop. For fifty dollars, this falls short in terms of fit and finish. My copy had a number of QC issues. Edge of the blade is irregular with a bump/burr. Trim at the front where wood meets metal is off kilter and uneven. Rivet misaligned from the prebored holes leading to gaps. Angle between tang and blade does not match the angle of the bevel of the handle, leading to gaps. These gaps are places that are difficult to clean if food particles get lodged in there. The sides of the spatula where the wood sandwiches the tang are not sealed, also presenting more nooks and crannies for food to get caught. If you're just plating food at the pass this might not be an issue but I promptly sealed mine with food grade silicone sealant. I refinished the edge of my blade by taking the bump to an Atoma 400 and smoothing it back to a smooth curve. Only then was I satisfied with this spatula's condition. If you're looking to buy, I recommend going in store and examining before buying. At 50 dollars, it's difficult for me to wholeheartedly recommend this, especially given the high bar set by the 01 Kitchen Spoon. I would more readily recommend the Knifewear 7 dollar spatula. However as I had bought the last one, I really did not want to go through the return process as I had been anticipating this release for a while (already bugging Knifewear if they were going to stock while Gestura was announcing its production). Shoutout to the Toronto team as they are some of the nicest and most helpful folks to deal with! NB to Knifewear web store team: please fix this cursed/forsaken yotpo review interface. Every time I accidentally click outside this box, my review gets completely erased. Only ____ly-retentive people like me have the patience to write out the same review more than once."

    The most beautiful offset spatula … ever?

    "So good! Beautifully made and an absolute joy to use. The craftsmanship is incredible. Is this a lot of $ to spend on an offset spatula? Yes. Is it worth it? 100%. It’s my favourite tool in my kitchen and I’m so happy with my upgrade."
