The Knifewear and Kent of Inglewood family always try to give back to a community that treats us so well.
The devastation in Fort Mac Murray has touched some of us personally, but all of us globally. 100% of our sharpening profits across all of our shops will be going to help the families through this tough time. Although your first sharpening is free with purchase, we will accept donations.
Did you know that 50% of our sharpening is always donated to charity? Each year we pick a different organization to get involved and support.
All of our staff is trained to sharpen knives by hand using whetstones. We feel like this is the best way to maintain your European or Japanese knives.
When you come in to the shop, we will walk you through our sharpening process and the cost. Sharpening runs from $6-$15. Costs of repairs will be discussed as well. We repair and sharpen all kinds of blades and steel even if the knife wasn’t purchased here. We also provide sharpening services for straight razors at our Kent of Inglewood shops.
We will try to do the sharpening while you wait. But this usually depends on the sharpening queue, time of day and the condition of the blade when you bring it in. Turn around time is typically 24 hours.
We also offer sharpening classes if you’d like to learn to do it yourself. We run them twice a week on Thursday evenings and Sunday mornings at $63 a person. You will receive 10% off stones and 10% off knives, should you choose to purchase any on the day. We will also help you select the correct stones for the type of steel and knives you have. With only 4 people, the class is very student focused and covers the basics of sharpening Japanese and European style knives.
