Konosuke Sakura Western Handle

This line is made exclusively for Knifewear.

Best looking knives in the world! IMO. The Damascus steel and the hand polished Cherry Blossoms are stunning. You are allowed to be seduced by a sexy knife.

Konosuke Knives are a great little knife company based in Sakai, a suburb of Osaka. This knife is hand forged from VG10 stainless steel. VG10 has the qualities of carbon steel: capable of wicked sharpness, easy to sharpen, keeps a great edge and feels super silky BUT IS STAINLESS. Sounds like the future to me. VG10 was a steel actually designed for knife making. Clever idea. Check out the damascus pattern. It looks like finger prints. How cool is that?

These knives are finished with a Western style Pakka Wood Handle. Pakka wood is basically layers of rose or sandal wood bound with heaps of silicone. This type of handle is very rugged; I would say they are virtually indestructible. The handle is fixed to the tang with three rivets for strength and durability. These knives are also accompanied by a Saya: a traditional Japanese wooden case which provides an easy and classy method of storage.

The Sakura (cherry blossom) pattern is unique to Konosuke knives. Kawamura san has developed this technique, but keeps the details a secret. His results are stunning. All I can say is that the mirror polish is done by hand and much more work than I had first guessed.
